شورshorشور؛ نمکینی (noise; also saltiness)
In plain English
The noisy advice of the preacher was like salt sprinkled on my wound. Someone should ask him what pleasure he got out of it. 'Shor' means both noise and saltiness, so the advice literally salts the wound.
This couplet is by Mirza Ghalib, from the ghazal “kehte ho na denge hum dil agar pada paaya”, Divan-e-Ghalib (Urdu), the Berlin edition (1925), p. 3. It means: The noisy advice of the preacher was like salt sprinkled on my wound. Someone should ask him what pleasure he got out of it. 'Shor' means both noise and saltiness, so the advice literally salts the wound.
