ہر شعر نیچے دیے گئے کسی نسخے کے اسکین شدہ صفحے سے پڑھ کر لکھا گیا ہے۔ ہر نسخہ 1950 سے پہلے چھپا ہے۔ ہم کسی ویب سائٹ کا ٹائپ شدہ متن استعمال نہیں کرتے، اور ریختہ کا متن کبھی نہیں۔

ہر شاعر کی تاریخِ وفات دو الگ حوالوں سے جانچی گئی ہے۔ پاکستان میں کاپی رائٹ وفات کے بعد 50 سال، بھارت میں 60 سال اور برطانیہ و یورپ میں 70 سال رہتا ہے؛ یہاں صرف وہ شعرا ہیں جن کا کلام تینوں میں آزاد ہو چکا ہے۔
لغت
الفاظ کے معنی ہم نے خود لکھے ہیں۔ ضرورت پڑنے پر پرانی پبلک ڈومین لغات (جیسے Platts کی 1884 کی لغت) سے مدد لی جاتی ہے؛ کسی جدید لغت سے نقل نہیں کیا جاتا۔
