جب مجھے یاد آتا ہے کہ صبح شبنم کے قطروں پر کلیاں کیسے مسکراتی تھیں تو دل پر چوٹ لگتی ہے۔ اوس کے قطرے آنسو لگتے ہیں اور کھلتی کلیاں مسکراہٹ۔

یہ شعر علامہ محمد اقبال کا ہے، ان کی نظم «پرندے کی فریاد» سے، بانگ درا (اشاعت دوم) (1926)، ص 23۔This couplet is by Allama Muhammad Iqbal, from the nazm “parinde ki fariyaad”, Bang-e-Dra (second printing) (1926), p. 23. It means: My heart aches whenever I recall the buds smiling at the dew's tears. Dewdrops on flowers look like tears, and the opening buds look like smiles; the bird misses even such small sights.
