یہ شعر مرزا غالب کا ہے، ان کی غزل «کوئی امید بر نہیں آتی» سے، دیوانِ غالب (اردو)، نسخۂ برلن (1925)، ص 147۔This couplet is by Mirza Ghalib, from the ghazal “koi ummeed bar nahin aati”, Divan-e-Ghalib (Urdu), the Berlin edition (1925), p. 147. It means: Once I could laugh at the state of my own heart; now nothing makes me laugh. The poet has moved from bearing grief lightly to a deep, joyless sadness.
