غالب! کہاں مے خانے کا دروازہ اور کہاں واعظ! مگر اتنا جانتے ہیں کہ کل جب ہم نکل رہے تھے تو وہ اندر جا رہا تھا۔ مقطع میں اس واعظ پر طنز ہے جو دوسروں کو منع کرتا ہے اور خود وہی کرتا ہے۔

یہ شعر مرزا غالب کا ہے، ان کی غزل «ہزاروں خواہشیں ایسی کہ ہر خواہش پہ دم نکلے» سے، دیوانِ غالب (اردو)، نسخۂ برلن (1925)، ص 206۔This couplet is by Mirza Ghalib, from the ghazal “hazaaron khwaahishen aisi ki har khwaahish pe dam nikle”, Divan-e-Ghalib (Urdu), the Berlin edition (1925), p. 206.
